Questions
Frequently asked questions
Does my app need a privacy policy on Google Play?
Yes. Google Play requires every app to add a privacy policy link in Play Console and inside the app, even apps that don't collect personal data. The policy has to be on a public web page (not a PDF) and must name the developer or app shown on the store listing.
Is the hosted policy link really free?
Yes. Click "Host it free", enter your email, and you get a permanent link like vigocrest.com/tools/policies/your-app/ to paste into Play Console. You also get a private edit link to update it later.
What about account deletion?
If people can create accounts in your app, Google Play requires a way to delete them both inside the app and on the web. The generated policy includes a deletion section with its own link (…/#delete-account) that you can use as the account deletion URL in Play Console.
Does this help with the Data safety form?
Yes. After you choose what your app collects, the page shows which data types to tick in Play Console's Data safety section. Keep the form and the policy consistent; Google checks both.
Is this legal advice?
No. It's a clear, plain-language template that covers the points Google Play and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act expect. If your app handles health, financial or children's data, have a lawyer review it.
