Which UPI apps can scan this QR code?
Any UPI app: the QR uses the standard upi://pay format that all UPI apps in India read. It contains your UPI ID, your name and, if you set one, a fixed amount.
Should I set an amount?
Leave it empty for a shop-counter QR, so customers type the amount. Set an amount for a fixed fee, such as a class fee, a ticket or a single product.
Can I use my personal UPI ID for a business?
You can, but personal UPI IDs have daily limits and banks may restrict many business payments to a personal account. For regular shop payments, ask your bank or a payment app for a merchant UPI ID, and generate your QR with it here.
How do I make sure the QR is right?
Before you print it, scan it with your own phone and pay ₹1. Check that the name shown in the UPI app is yours and the money reaches the right account.
Is my UPI ID stored?
No. The QR code and poster are made in your browser. Nothing is sent to our server.
A customer says they must scan a QR to receive money. Is that right?
No. You never need to scan a QR code or enter your UPI PIN to receive money. Scanning and entering your PIN always sends money. Warn customers who are asked to do this: it's a common scam.
