Why use it

Machines need facts, not guesses

  • Google, ChatGPT and other AI assistants read structured data to learn your exact name, address, phone, hours, prices and social profiles, instead of guessing from your page design.
  • It reduces wrong answers about your business, like old phone numbers, wrong timings or a competitor's address.
  • Local businesses with complete details are easier to show for "near me" questions in search and AI answers.
  • It's a small block of code you add once. No redesign needed.

Where to use it

Add it to

  • Local business: your homepage or contact page (shops, clinics, tutors, salons, restaurants, CA and legal firms).
  • Organization: the homepage of a company, startup or institution.
  • FAQ: any page with a questions-and-answers section.
  • Product: each product or service page that shows a price.
  • Mobile app: your app's landing page, linking to its Play Store listing.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is schema markup?

A standard vocabulary (schema.org) for describing things like businesses, products and FAQs in a format machines understand. You add it to a page as a JSON-LD script; visitors don't see it.

Where do I paste the code?

Inside the page's <head>, or anywhere in the <body>. On WordPress, use a header/footer code plugin or your SEO plugin's custom schema option. On Wix, Shopify or other builders, use the custom code or SEO settings for that page.

How do I check it works?

Paste your page URL into Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator (validator.schema.org). Both are free. Then run our AI visibility checker to confirm AI crawlers can read the page.

Will FAQ markup give me FAQ results in Google?

Probably not. Google now shows FAQ rich results mainly for well-known government and health websites. FAQ markup still helps search engines and AI understand your questions and answers, so it's worth adding.

Why is there no star rating field?

Google ignores review stars that a business adds about itself, and made-up ratings break its rules. Show real reviews from customers on your page instead.

Is my data stored?

No. The code is generated in your browser.
